- Support and use ASL! I am from deaf family and graduated at California School for the Deaf, Riverside in 1995. I have deaf parent, one deaf brother and several deaf uncles, aunts and cousins. I have a wonderful wife with three awesome kids. My first two kids are boys. They are tough, but compassion toward our daughter. Graduated with B.S. Degree in Information Systems Security. I dont know how they can doing better with deaf tech for deaf community. Blast best of time to learn new things we were not able to communicate. I dont know how much it will change within 5 extra years from now??
Whoa.. My hearing kids are kind of get out of high school soon. They want VP me as deaf parents.

Interest viewpoint you observe very well. Yes there are big change in short time but five years or more we had very wonderful Deaf community who still kept contact without depending on that technology but today we have very advanced and sophicated technology do not benefit our Deaf community instead of being loosen how come? However we get more information ahead but not in our community how come? Technology benefit and destory Deaf Community at sametime for example. You have a nice car and very convience for transporting easier but damage the quality of air! That is what I try to make a point out!
deaf pixie, platonic's eye did mention as you did. We have cool technologies, but the deaf community has ceased to remain strong like in past. I strong believe the reason for the deaf community become weak due to diversity perspectives and we take more information through current technologies than past. I can call 10 people on VP and feed them information. They will tell next 10 people. The information spread too fast and sometime it is uncomfortable to accept new ideas. The question is which information is right or wrong. People become insecure and unsure who are on the same page because of diversity support on many different categories relate to deaf, but which one? IMO. :)
Good Question! The expectation for DEAF have high technology, From 5 year, I hope that Microsoft, T-Mobile, Sony, More Companies should recognize the Deaf's need like Sidekick, Blackberry, etc. need more improve best technologies for DEAF and ASLAN. Not only telephone but other things we wanted to see better and best once for All.
Very interesting point of view on technology, yes that's true technology do changes every year maybe every 6 months. Who knows the new technology for deaf or aslan to have vp on their glasses talking and walking at the same time. Scary what big corporation can do with people for new technology either for good or bad.
Good to use to improve and faster to make our lifestyles easier, the Bad government will be peeking our private lives.
I agree with you. I really can remember what's look like only five years ago in deafhood. To be honest, I can't survived without high speed internet, sk, vp, ojo, and blackberry.. Always enjoyed your Vlog lately and looking forward to your next vlog already. Smile Coach Creech
I agree we have progressed far in the past 5 years, but technology is not the only place we have "advanced".
5 years ago, gasoline was 1.29 per gallon - and we screamed at the price! 5 years ago I could walk in to my doctor's office and be seen immediately. 5 years ago, my personal information was private.. (SS#, passport, etc.) 5 years ago i could take my wife and 4 kids out to dinner for less than $20. 7 years ago I could get on an aircraft without being strip searched and cameras looking through my clothing at my naked body! Progress??? I wonder...??
In April 2008 our Drivers License must have photo and electronic tracking device hidden. Without that no one will be permitted to fly or get a passport! Homeland Security?? Homeland INsecurity IMHO.
5 years ago, Wyndtel was the greatest invention on earth! Yes, we will be able to VP on the move -In Japan and Europe, people have that service now, but the US doesn't have the right infrastructure yet.(cell phone towers, wire lines underground). I predict we will be able to have MEETINGS on our Sidekick or Blackberry involving many people at the same time (but it probably wont be a Sidekick). Imagine your next Deaf Club meeting while you sit at home and enjoy your 84 inch High Definition wall-vision!
I know we live in an exciting time, and the world is changing, but I don't think its all positive.
Tigerman50 is right! The government is peeking through our lives already too much!
My humble opinion...
HAHHAHAH.. would be great benefits and excellence tech future. May comes best tech what future stored? Look forward next 5 yrs.

abc: I know, the new technologies can be beautiful, but at same time it can be fearsome to know that the new technologies existed.
