To be honest, Ameslan looks and sounds better. A new term needs to be weighted for how it appears and sounds more than meanings needing to be coined. It needs to be easily spelled, pronounced, and conveyed in means as much as possible in order for it to be easily accepted and readily used.
Your idea is just right, you will start seeing this concept streamlining from now and on. You got it, just the word itself. Lou Fant is still right I believe.
My purpose for this term is allow people look at the term with first glance that they may recognize it is a term related to American. Then they will ask us what does it mean? We can explain them that it mean a person who use America Sign Language without speaking. That is my goal for this term. This term does have purpose. :)

I am from deaf family and graduated at California School for the Deaf, Riverside in 1995. I have deaf parent, one deaf brother and several deaf uncles, aunts and cousins. I have a wonderful wife with three awesome kids. My first two kids are boys. They are tough, but compassion toward our daughter.
