I'm not sure I understand your point about patenting. Touch screen already exists and I'm sure is already patented. If not, then it is covered by prior art. Why does NAD have to go through the whole committee discussion, etc.? You can be your own consumer advocate and contact these companies directly and propose touch-screen drive through. It has benefits not just for Deaf customers, but also Foreign-language customers too.

You have a great idea. You shouldn't hold yourself back by the assumption that it has to be patented. It isn't patentable unless the method of how the touch screen inside circuitry is designed sooo differently from other touch screen technology. But what you are proposing, isn't different technology, what you are proposing is good common sense technology. Use it and contact these companies directly or ask us all through the power of your vlog to join in contacting these companies directly through letter writing campaigns etc.

Don't hold yourself back on the misconception that it needs patenting, which in my opinion, the patent system is broken anyway.

Howdy folk, I have been traveling, and I saw few places has that, I try to tell myself it was McDonald but maybe some kind of fast restaurant that have "touch screen" to order. Wish I remember. But anyway, In Japan, Some fast Restaurant can text message to restaurant to order the foods and ready in few min. Neat way doing that also. Today most Pizza places take email, we can send email from Blackberry or Sidekick and arrive there in time to pick up. Wish that all Others copy those example. Not bad idea.

bryen: I am not focus on touch screen technology, but the concept of touch screen with new GUI program that can be easily install at any fast food without hassle. With this concept and set it with patient. NAD can earn profits to support NAD's organization.

phillip easterling: I don't have pager. All I want is a touch screen where I can order just like anyone goes through the drive thru.

Kevin- Love the blog/vlogs. I think you make an interesting point on the drive thru. I definitely think with some tinkering, you could be on to something. Nice work and I'll email you our blog. It may be a little screwy to read, since we're hearing folk and all, but give you insight to our world up here. I'm sure I'll see you around here or beckett.-Ross

That's called reasonable accommodation under ADA.

I suggest that NAD and leaders of deaf community together as team and share the concept of touch screen to fast food resturants and explained that this concept is reasonable accommodation for deaf, hard of hearing and non-english speaking people and if fast resturants refused due to cost issues then we can file complaint that fast food resturants are not providing reasonable accommodation to deaf and hard of hearing community.

Resturants has already provided accommodation for disabled people under ADA that is: wide doors, ramps, braille menus and special seats that is wheelchair accessiable, bathrooms wheelchair accessible.

Where is accommodation for the deaf, hard of hearing and non-speaking english?

Touch screen with pictures of food is perfect reasonable accommodation for deaf, hard of hearing and non-english speaking people to be able to see picture screen and touch to place an order.

Hmm Hey NAD, what do you say?

Let us know what NAD's intentions on this issue?
