- Support and use ASL! I am from deaf family and graduated at California School for the Deaf, Riverside in 1995. I have deaf parent, one deaf brother and several deaf uncles, aunts and cousins. I have a wonderful wife with three awesome kids. My first two kids are boys. They are tough, but compassion toward our daughter. Graduated with B.S. Degree in Information Systems Security. Before you begin reading this comment, this is not in any way aimed to bash out directly at you. This is to just show you your attitude in a different light. That kind of attitude is why hearing people have disregarded Deaf people's crying requests for equal communication access to everything feasible.
Your tone sets out to just sound like you don't care what hearing viewers, who may not be as understanding as Deaf viewers are but still equal, may have to say and you want them to stay in the dark. Let's reverse roles for a minute here. How would you feel if you were watching a widely popular television show and the captions just stopped abruptly because the show producers felt their target audiences were the hearing parts?
That would be total disregard for a small group of viewers but still viewers nonetheless. What you are trying to do right now will set us back hundreds of years in progress towards equal respect and civility by the hearing community.
Maybe the next time you do something like this, you'll think about what it would feel like if you were in their shoes. Just something for you and other viewers to think about.

I understand what Lurker is saying, but I think you are missing the point. ASLpride makes it clear that people who WANT their message to get to a wider audience should provide captions or a transcript. But not every vlog is meant for everyone. There are many vlogs in many languages and not all of them aspire to be translated.
The point is: Better to vlog than not to vlog! You're probably familiar with the saying, "Perfect is the enemy of the good". In a perfect world, we would all have equal access and we would all understand each other. But it's still good for as many people as possible to express themselves.
We finally have a medium that lends itself beautifully to a visual language. Instead of saying "Hold on!" to people who want to connect with each other, think about what it would feel like if YOU were in THEIR shoes. It's not that Deaf vloggers don't care about hearing viewers. That's like saying the makers of footballs don't care about people who don't know how to play football.
Agreed with Rachel. ASL means "view" to communication. So anyone can read our sign language. We can't see the sound of your vocal thru your mouth! Espn, Cnn, Utube, and all others are now not having a subtitles! Because there are no law for ADA to do this because it is not a TV. They "hearing people" are discrimination us first! We don't. Leave the deaf people alone! We are tired of you picking on us where you don't provided us so enough is enough! If they want subtitles then fine, if not then too bad. This ASL blog is ours to use ASL where espn, cnn and others don't give a damn!
A very positive Vlog. I think people who are against subtitling is very negative and discouraging to watch.
Hello a mere lurker: How can you justified a agrument between economic power to non economic power. My vlogs aren't economic power, because I earn nothing and I have nothing to contribute with money for my vlogs. It is sad to see many people keep compare tv shows, movies and dvds against ASL vloggers who doesn't earn any cent. I will create another vlog focus on misunderstand on compare between economic power and non economic power.
