Wow.

Yeah, I talked about that too in Lab Animals post.

Well said!

I agree with you completely, and keep vlogging! I am learning a lot from you, and I can apply that to myself personally.

We are making valuable contributions by sharing our thoughts, opinions, perspectives, that we want to bring up to the table to stimulate conversation. That is the road of enlightenment and empowerment.

Whoever who wants to put down with criticism with an attitude, can say things differently, with "I disagree with what you said because...." instead of "you stupid moron....", which is very degrading.

We need to rise from demeaning comments, and make ourselves more savvy how we can discuss/debate/argue our issues effectively.

Wow...

Congrats for wonderful presentation!

Wow you seemed angry in your vlog but you had every right to express your feelings, that takes a lot of guts to do this.

This is why I refuse to set up a business -- it would be awfully too hard for me to try to make myself happy and knownng that I may not be able to make enough money to survive.

I'm glad you brought this issue of money -- it has been a sore subject for many many years.

And for crab theory, I think some people are getting tired of discussing it when there are no answers to it.

I typed something then faced a blank page so I had to redo everything. Anyway, by default, we're direct and critical people. Sometimes, we rub off people the wrong way. Sometimes a person is asking for it and we succumb to temptation and drama. ;) Even myself. A lot more people are picking up on crab theory than before. This shift takes time. I just learned about crab theory last year! Thanks.

ASLPride, I commend you for detecting crab antics in some deaf people. Sociologists and psychologists say that crab antics are commonly seen amongst minority members who have an inferior complex. Those who have an inferior complex cannot cope, so more often than not would they either lose the control with their emotions by inventing anything false, criticising, fabricating, defaming, demeaning, degrading a person for his successful career or for his popular blog/vlog that he cannot surpass. Dampening one's
enthusasium is also considered as a crab antic. A crab netter is not attracted to a happy person;
rather, he is attracted to an unhappy person who would help
cleanse him cathartically. People
with superior complex praise anyone
for doing anything positive. Those
with inferior complex can change
for the better if they so desire
for happiness. Never say that it is
too late for crab netters to change their negative behaviour because of their age. Anyone can weed out his cran antics at 15 or 90 with a cane and a pair of spectacles.

Interesting vlog - you made me thinking that the term Crab Theory should be discussed more. It is because I have different interpretation. I am sure others have their own interpretation as well. Let's see how this will go. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you that we don't need crab theory. However, criticism comes in more than one form. There are good criticism and bad criticism. I am having a hard time seeing your point that criticism is crab theory. I can see where bad or non-constructive criticism can be related to crab theory, but, not good or constructive criticism. Criticism can be good but it's all in how it's presented. Your thoughts?

You made very clear about crab theory! I can understand you how to respond that hard question of why you are called crab theory because the criticism is the way you observe Deaf community look for free service. In fact, you had right to express your opinion for anything whether other dont like or think you critize the way they do. Hard fact can be hurt but very truth! You make good point about crab theory. not only Deaf community, there are a lot awful of many different minorities who grow in oppressive envirnoment economically and socially like that. Constrctive critcism bring good benefit. I can see your anger but you handled with that crab theory. Be strong you speak from your mind!

Criticism isn't necessarily bad. It is how one criticize.. constructively or not.

I appreciate you bringing up this topic. This is something that we all need to discuss cuz some of the comments I've observed were kind of harsh, making things worse. Some are so bad that the blog/vlog site has closed down or becomes less active as a result.

These same feedback will be better received if they were shared in a positive manner.

Yes, criticism is one of Crab Antics if negative. Some people have yet to grasp the concept of "Crab Antics". A crab netter is
a person who negatively criticises and despises a deaf person who wins an Oscar award or Miss Aemrica without using sign language. One does not want an oralist to achieve in the hearing world without knowing sign language. Crab antics are found amongst blacks as well. "The New Yorker" ran an article in 2003
about black people, including Singer Harry Belafonte, criticising Condoleezza Rice, Gen. Colin Powell, and Justice Clarence Thomas for being successful in the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)world. Criticism is almsot invariably the first of all signs of Crab Antics.

Frankly, negative interactions are not needed at all. If someone wants to complain, they can, but to deface someone's character because of his frustrations is another matter. And defensiveness just causes another relay match.

Here, we are more intimate in our discourse because we all share the culture and we are passionate about it - yet we need to watch out and complain with care and not criticize (complaint: There's not enough blogs about the national anthem versus criticism: Why couldn't you do a national anthem instead of rambling about going to Hawaii?)

or cause other people to withdraw from blogging all together - feeling flooded by all the negativity.
