My perspective on a success vlog in DeafRead.

Hi there.

Interesting. I wanted to add my thoughts. Sometimes, we might have really quality information on our vlogs, but not get more than 100 hits. This might be because there were many, many posts that day and time and it caused our post to fall down on the ladder of the first page and sometimes onto the second page. Some people only look at the first page. So really it's a lucky guess at times to try to find the best time of the day and the best day of the week to post so that your clip can be seen. If you get under 100 hits, it might mean you just had too much competition for space on DeafRead that day. Not about quality.

I do like what you said about being personally satisfied as a measure of success. That was a good thought. It's not about stats. Its about personal gratification -- enjoying what you do. :)

You are obviously liking what you do ;) because yuo are making vlogs right and left! Busy bee you!

Hello there. I think it doesn't do so much for content, but rather that readers go for convenience, familiarity, and entertainment. I guess using a “Peter cries ‘Wolf!’” topic heading works for some too. ;) One of my interpreters told me that she was puzzled of some v/blogs with challenging topics and discourse yet they were either discounted or ignored. Concrete reasoning from majority apparently.

Success = # viewers.. yeah can judge that way. Personally I weight YouTube Hits more heavy than DeafRead.. because Youtube counts every time the Vlog's been viewed.. so if someone watches it and then shows it to 10 people on same computer, it'll be counted every time.

What I really appreciate the most are comments because it makes me feel like part of the community.. and thats why I've started commenting more myself too... ALL THANKS to the Deaf Read Conference that helped me change my perspective!

My "Truth about Deaf Applause" is my MOST popular vlog with 20,220 hits on YouTube.. imagine that!
http://deafroger.blogspot.com/2007/12/truth-about-deaf-applause.html

On my Blog, it got 24 comments...

But my "AGBAD BANNED!" only got 1,146 hits on YouTube
http://deafroger.blogspot.com/2008/02/agbad-banned.html

BUT on my blog it got 30 comments!

1/20th amount of viewers but MORE comments... this is due to Deaf Read b/vlogsphere community!

The "Deaf Applause" got over 20,000 views... but I bet you 95% was at YouTube due to email URL forwarding "Watch this! Its Funny"
and not due to people come to MY BLOGSITE DeafRoger.blogspot.com

So thats what I enjoy the most.. comments from Deaf Read people on on my blogsite! :)

Cheers!
Roger

I'm with DeafRoger's comment because no matter what still standing how many hits per visit vlog through DeafRead, youtube, and others still standing good.

If 100 hits over, that's fine w/me as long they want enjoy viewing preferences choice visit whoever user vlogs. If lower means not hurt you.. Still good standing anyway.

Keep chin up for everyone.

I would just like to echo LaRonda's sentiments.

For me, personally, my blog is about quality not quantity. This morning I was inspired by a fellow Deaf v/blogger.

He told me that he learned from me about DeafBlindness. You see if I can make an impact on one person rather than 100 people, that's great! I'm happy with this because my blog is a personal insight into my life.
