Speaking of AGBell.org being baised in giving money to you for higher education according to your communication language and maybe you should have civil court action about this.

Is it ironic that when some cities in United States recently tried to have a law that the language is English because of the illegal immigration people demanded to have bilingual?

And the federal court made the "English only" law by some cities unconstitutional.

Or is it that we deaf people do not have enough significant status from the federal government for our rights to have bilingual education in our schools...as well as how we could recieve monies to enhance our education according to our choice of having visual language which is the most logic sense to have in the first place.

First ask AGB Orgaization to change their rule on number four. If they refuse to change, then take them to court.

I have an idea! Why would you not consult one of the Gallaudet Board of Trustées named Ken Levinson. He is an active member of Alexander G. Bell Association for the Deaf.
I would suggest a direct contact rather than an indirect conact because some letters to the BoT are filtered out by one of the secrataries of the Office of President.

To Jean,

Not a bad idea!

Anybody else have some ideas???

How about if someone start a lawsuit of $50 million and use that monies for grant heaing deaf people to use for higher education expense

And

also of this lawsuit that AGBell.org must never again be biased against visual language(ASL)

And

also again of this lawsuit that AGBell must adopt Bilingual philosophy for all deaf children.

Let's see what they can provide you!

Well.... It is my understanding that the organization might have rights to establish ground rules for the applicants if the agreement has made with a federal agency. Otherwise, the contract from the federal government might never mention regarding how the money must be used, therefore, the AGB could deem the kinds of applicants they want to provide the money based on the organizaion's values and missions. Hope that clears it up.

Keep looking for an other opporunity. Good luck! :o)

That would be clearly seen as a systematic discrimination against deaf signers which the federal government dole out grant monies to various organizations. Totally unacceptable for the organization to deny the finanically-strait deaf individual based on the questionable ideology of the deaf education.

Gallaudet University have to comply with several federal laws from the Section 501 to the admission of hearing undergraduates (HUGS).

I wonder if the AGB organization eny any deaf individual, who is a big-time oralist hirself and want to attend the Gallaudet University for hir own educational studies. That will be definitely a violation of the Civil Rights Act based on someone's creed and disability.

The same problems lately with the faith-based intitiatives within federal government's grant monies to churches and religious organizations to provide social services. Churches and religious organizations have the so-called right to deny the service to homosexual or atheist which do not comply with their own religious beliefs.

The American taxpayer money should be not used to dictate or convert someone's own communication preference or personal beliefs.

How much did the AGB organization receive from the federal government so far?

That would be a real juicy issue for us to raise during the presidential campaigns why the federal government ought to give grant monies in violation of exclusivity based on race, creed, religion and disability.

I never consider myself "disabled", but the society at large usually define us, deaf people as part of disability groups.

Let's give the AGB organization hell of a time for their own systematic discrimination to deny deaf signers. Who the f**k the AGB people think?

Hello, I want to thank you all for your feedback. I can see different rights toward deaf person and organization.

To answer Judge's respond...

I will try apply it for 2008, I will be still a student during 2008 taking Master In Information Technology. 2007 is out of picture as they did closed the application. Too short, but I will keep my eyes on 2008. Whether results I received from AGB Org, I will let you know.

Thanks
