True, it is sad to see that happen, not only with Sorenson but I witnessed few others with HOVRS and CSDVRS myself. It is important to maintain positive composure and say something to the interpreter such as "I hope I won't see you playing with your fingernails next time you come on"..something like that. We need to continue educating service providers anytime we see something like that.

LOL that was funny.

Yeah! I'd like to share with you. One of the interpreters was so sleepy and yawning a lot while I was signing to him on Sorenson! Wasn't he professional? Plus, another interpreter (female) can't read my spelling...It was very clear and slow, still she can't read. I think they need to make sure that interpreters can read spelling before they're hired to work as interpreters.

At least that person didn't pick his nose front of you and your Dad. lol I have a similar experience too .. some sloppy signings, etc. The DeafTalk Machine at the hospital is one of my worse nitemares. Ugh. A rude interpreter who is very lousy signer refused to resign after I asked for another interpreter. Not sure where the DeafTalk company come from. It is frustrating.

Yes I have struggle with unprofessional interpreter who is not really good signed. One time I conversated with my older sisters. we have hard time to understand her. I told her I need to contact Oregon. Interpreter say Ohio. .. I said no it is Oregon. you have to spelling Ohio. Sometime I realized interpreter doesnt know the states name of sign as amercia. I am very surprised to conversation with Sorenson interpreter doesnt have a good interpreter sometime.
INterpreter say Oakland, Ca. I say No It is Oregon. I had to spelling it. Unbeleviable! I told my older sister if we are not happy and hung up and call me different as Sprint or HOVRS, That's depended on if we have time.

Most funny, Sorenson interpreter burst laughed at me. One time it was last spring I start too sweat and feel like I just start hot flashes.

I have not turn 50 years old, yet. I told sorenson. Sorry I have to turn fan on. The outside degree was about less 70 degree.it was not very hot in Seattle,WA.

I had to turn on and fast let me stop complained to sorenson male interpreter.

I told him .. Hold sec.. I get paper what I read. I accidently let my paper fly. Sorenson male interpreter. I have hard time to read it while fan blew my face.
After I had to turn off fan. Nice to laugh at me. he was so nice man and made me a good day!

Then after we conversated in someone on the phone and it was done. I asked him Where are you came from? he did not tell me where he came from.. His sign is Amercian hands. he point his thumb below. I said Oh, FLORDIA!

Why not video the actual unprofessionalism of the VRS rather than trying to mock it. Do a sting operation to nab these unprofessional terps.

Yeah. That is why I rarely used Sorenson. I used Sprint VRS. They have quality, best and professional interpreters.

OCDAC: If you give me money, I will do this. :)

Since I mention that it is very rare to see unprofessional interpreters. I am not going to sit on my butt and call hundred calls on SorensonVRS to get a real record of unprofessional interpreters' action. This vlog is a share story about my witness that it did happen.

yeah, that's funny you mentioned this. I had an interpreter last night at a workshop that said the exact same thing, plus "You are special." I said, "don't say that!" Ugh. Later she admitted she was new. Funny persona you did. Maybe we should have VRS terp anonymous vLog. :-)

I agree that some interpreters are not qualified. Sometimes I hear Um Um Um over and over. But, there are some very skilled interpreters who have bad day but work forces them to stay. Interpreter self true human. Same some Deaf, if hard day, then miss fingerspelling or numbers. Just need more patience with eachother :) If interpreter work too much, can cook brain same as burn steaks. And, why not have CDI work at VRS center to help???? Also, thank you to all Deaf and Interpreter who are friendly.
